About
I'm passionate about meeting new people, sharing experiences with them and learning about their lives... I am a very curious person and find it really hard to confine myself to just a few hobbies/interests, so I explore all of them! I am always open to trying new things and consider myself a jack of all trades/master of none. Along with this, I wish to spread what I believe to be the answer to a lot of the world's issues-- love. Empathy & compassion go a long way in making someone feel loved and it costs nothing to give; so I'd love to have a career where I can spread that to others and gain a better understanding of people's individual lives and problems they may deal with. I think I would be a great social carer for the reasons listed above and the fact that I have personal experience with people that have similar mental conditions/diagnoses to the ones that I may be assisting. I myself struggle with ADHD and understand the importance of developing your own systems & routines in order to assimilate your neurodivergent life into a neurotypical world. My best friend growing up had ASD & ADHD and many of my friends these days struggle with other mental health conditions such as depression, anxiety, eating disorders and OCD. In terms of physical disabilities/conditions, my late grandfather and uncle both struggled with a genetic variant of motor-neuron disorder (MND) and were both in wheelchairs for many years before they passed away. I love learning new things and consider myself a lifelong student, often reading books/articles and listening to podcasts to satiate my thirst for knowledge. I enjoy reading about many topics but often find myself exploring history, pop culture, psychology, philosophy, science and their related facets of information. I enjoy regular exercise and make it a habit to go to the gym and run at least 4 or 5 days per week. I am an intrepid traveller and am always looking forward to my next trip. I like snowboarding and have spent 6 months last year in Canada and one month this year in Japan partaking in it, having also spent time in the USA and Canada on other occasions. I am also obsessed with music from various genres but most notably hip-hop, rock and indie. Occasionally in my free time I will indulge in PC gaming and I have been building computers since I was 12. In terms of my skills, I was a strong student in high school in the subjects of economics and business. I have carried that strength into my previous career experience. Initially I worked in a retail environment but eventually moved onto sales work, specifically telecommunications (internet and mobile services) and solar and battery sales. I believe this interest grew naturally as a child considering my Dad has been an entrepreneur since before I was born. I often participate in discussion with others and mindfulness/meditation to help regulate myself and expand upon my mental toolkit.
