I enjoy being with people of all ages and abilities, sharing interests and knowledge. Through my employment in early childhood education and my volunteer youth leadership roles with St John Ambulance and Scouts Australia I have always aimed to encourage and support those around me to achieve their best. ^& ^&Talk with the person to find out what they would like to achieve, their existing skills and knowledge in the chosen activity and any issues we may need to overcome. For example, Knitting. Has the person tried it before. How was that? What do they already know about knitting. Source the materials and equipment required for us to do the task simultaneously so I can demonstrate. Remain patient and flexible as every person learns in a different way and at a different speed. Encourage success and support the person to keep trying when things don't quite turn out. ^&
