About
I care about people. I am a good listener and have a natural ability to help people find their own resourcefulness. I firmly believe that we are all whole and complete even if we sometimes struggle or feel lonely. Having 4 children I am pretty good at helping with planning and organising things, helping create routines, going with you for appointments, teaching you to cook, listening to your day and cheering you on. I moved to Australia with my family many years ago when the kids were little. I have lived in Malaysia, Singapore, United States and New Zealand and have thus experienced and appreciate many different cultures. This exposure has shown me that we are all the same in our needs no matter where we come from or how we see the world. My educational background is in Psychology having received my BSc in the US many years ago. I am currently studying for my diploma of counselling. I have always had a passionate interest in human behaviour and the power of mindfulness. I have helped clients with cultivating well-being and stress management for over 25 years. I have also worked in operations management in hospitality which has helped me with team building and rostering as well as planning, implementing and refining processes while paying attention to details. I enjoy sharing the things that I have learnt that have impacted me. The most effective way I know to share is by showing the relevance of something and how it can make things better or easier. An example would be mindfulness. Just paying attention to the breath several times during the day with the aid of an app with a bell as a reminder is a great way to start. This practice helps with centring oneself, slowing down the thinking, releasing physical tension and helps to train the brain to focus. Once we have put into place the above routine, then following up weekly with a sharing of experience to help clarify any resistance and to deepen the practice is a good way establish mindfulness in everyday living. Being an introvert by nature I appreciate the need of space and quiet time yet still really enjoy having a cuppa or a walk and a chat or laugh with anyone. Also equally happy to sit quietly, or walk quietly in companionship.
