I'm interested in becoming a social carer as I have experience supporting my elderly parents as well as my son who has a disability. I can see how much the elderly and people with disabilities can benefit from social interaction with people outside the family, especially those that are living at home and without the ability to interact with others very much. I do a bit of support work with some elderly people and have been able to build strong relationships with them, I am very easy going and adaptable. I really enjoy this type of work and the people I work with tell me they enjoy our time together. I enjoy reading books, walking in nature, using the computer/ipad, jigsaw and crossward puzzles. I also enjoy cooking and baking. I am quite confident to assist people with going shopping, going to appointments or on outings together, or just spending time chatting or doing a crossword puzzle together. I am a quiet-natured, cheerful person and am best suited to similar personalities. I have a background in studying law and am very passionate about supporting people to understand their rights and what services they may be able to access. I am very capable with using technology and will happily support clients if they need support in this area. I have previously worked with kindergarten children and currently do some independent support work with children, adults and the elderly.
