I have enjoyed many decades working in schools assisting students with specific needs be it emotional, social or intellectual as well as supporting them in their daily school learning routines. I have also taught in private language schools overseas as well as private, inhome and online tutoring. As a person I am very empathetic, compassionate and supportive of other people and always have their well-being as forefront of every interaction I have with them. I am a great listener and enjoy finding that connection with people of all ages. I continue to update my work skills and knowledge by attending online courses/professional development.^& ^&When interacting and getting to know them for the first time I will endeavour to find mutual interests/hobbies through light conversation. Once that has been established I go into further detail focusing on creating and growing a connection. If for example through conversation I have discovered we both have a common interest in animals/pets I will continue the conversation by talking about my interest in animals and the pets I have in my home, what they are, how many I have, their names and so forth. I will then ask for similar details from the other person. Some of the activities I would offer during support sessions would be to go on a trip to the zoo, visit a park, go to a library to borrow books or research on the topic of animals and pets in general to build knowledge on these topics. Another activity would be to draw or colour in animal pictures.^&
