I am a caring empathetic person who grew up with a cousin who has physical and intellectual disabilities. I have always been a people person and love listening to people's stories, we all have one! My first disability role was in the centre where my cousin attended 30 years ago, I instantly knew that I had found my calling. I thoroughly enjoy working with people with disabilities to help encourage them to achieve their goals and to help them strive towards new ones. I have a caring nature and have seen many clients over the years achieve some goals they never thought they could. I am honest and reliable and have many years of experience to bring to the table. I embrace a person centred approach, allowing people to take informed risks, to live their best lives. I love a laugh and to have fun but know when to be serious and am a good listener.^& ^&Example: Skin care regime. Ascertain what type of skin type they have, could go to a pharmacy or dept store to find testers for this activity, ask for samples of the clients skin type. Once back at their home, would show them how and what things we need to use, eg: wash your face with step one, with mild liquid saop, step 2, dry your face, step 3, place exfloliator on cotton pad to remove dry and dead skin, step 4, apply moisturiser. Make up application would be similar to above, choosing colours client likes and showing them how to apply make up, through the skills I was taught from Clinique, whilst allowing them the choice to use their own creative flare as well.^&
