I have worked as a disability support worker for 4.5 years which has given me lots of practical experience relating to people with varied challenges in their daily life. I have mostly worked in social groups supporting clients to be socially active, enjoying forming friendships and engaging in fun activities. I have formed beautiful connections with them and have cared deeply for their well-being. It has brought me great pride to witness them achieving their goals and aspirations. I have worked some shifts supporting people who require support to stay at home as they are now aged and have some physical challenges. Some of the activities I have done with my social groups are bowling, mini-golf, movies, candle-making, arts & crafts, theme parks, nature walks, ferry rides, outings to museums and art galleries, performing arts, karaoke, BBQs and picnics, shopping, cooking and outings to cafes and restaurants. We always have a good time together and enjoy some conversation and laughs. I have assisted with money management and travel training too. I have done lots of transports to assist people to attend their social activities. I am a proud mother of three teenage sons. This has challenged me to grow as a person and discover my inner strength and resilience. Parenting has taught me to be adaptable and think on my feet and I believe I am a natural nurturer. I am a warm and caring person, a good listener who genuinely cares for my friends, family and those I work with. I am compassionate and empathetic. Whilst my boys were in primary school I enjoyed volunteering a lot, especially in the areas of reading support and arts and crafts activities. I am a music lover and enjoy playing acoustic guitar and singing. I love pets and animals, especially dogs. I have a puppy called Lucy who I walk twice a day. I enjoy going to cafes to catch up with friends. I also enjoy op-shopping. I enjoy walking in nature especially in the beautiful hinterland of the Gold Coast. I would like to assist people to access community and stay socially active. I am available for transports and social supports.
