Hi, my name is Cheyenne, I think I would make a great hero because I love to connect with people. I used to get so anxious talking to new people until I learned how easy it was to make friends and how nice people can be. Now I love meeting new people and making them smile and laugh. In saying this, I think I can relate to a lot of people who feel the same anxiousness I felt and help them to feel more comfortable, safe and confident. I enjoy listening to people’s stories and how their day has been. I love helping others in any way I can, no matter how big or small the task is, I’m always willing to do the best of my ability in any circumstance. I find great fulfillment in helping other people figure out what they are passionate about and to see them flourish in activities and endeavours that make them happy. I’m always up for adventures and having fun outdoors but I also really enjoy some quiet time inside reading and playing music on my guitar. I believe I am patient and understanding and I do my best to say words that are encouraging and positive to those around me. I think that’s what makes a great hero, lifting others up when they’re feeling down and low but also pushing them towards their goals and dreams. I lead a youth group every Friday night that consists of about twenty people ranging from 13 to 25 years old. Just building relationships with each person and helping them achieve their own goals is something I’m very proud to be a part of. I also lead the youth music team at church on Sundays which is really fun for me, I’m very thankful to have such a supportive team behind me and we lift each other up so I’ve learnt many lessons being a leader. I love music; writing music, playing music and I love teaching how to play music. Recently, at the beginning of the year, I just started to teach guitar lessons with some of the kids from my youth group and church. I get excited every time I see them play, how much progress they’re making and how happy they get when they play, it is very fulfilling. Besides teaching I am also still learning guitar even after playing more than 10 years and I’m still making progress at this skill. As well as music, I enjoy playing basketball- I play at least twice a week it’s so fun and a great way to exercise plus it’s a great way to meet new people, my shooting ability has gotten more consistent and I feel more confident on the court playing with new people. A favourite quote of mine is: A quote that inspires me is from Martin Luther King Jr. “Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.”
