About

I would love to become a Social Carer, as I'd like to use my excellent communication skills, empathy, creativity and kindness to assist people in their daily lives! I've been working as a nanny, alongside studying to be an ADHD coach, so I am very aware of and embrace diversity in thinking, abilities and strengths! I am a very warm, kind person who enjoys having a giggle, and as somebody with ADHD, I have an understanding of the way we all face different challenges, and as somebody who is a creative thinker, I am always thinking of different strategies and ways I can assist other people (whether children I work with or adults) to find what works for them. I am also a musician, so am a sensitive, empathetic soul who is very attuned to the people around me, and am able to create spaces that feel warm, safe and open for people to be exactly who they are, without judgement. I'm an excellent listener, and care deeply about the people around me. I think this skill and value is really important in becoming a social carer, as I value autonomy in decision making, and understand from experience that people with different ways of thinking and abilities still need to feel like decisions are not always being made on their behalf, but collaboratively and that they are being heard. I would love to assist people in becoming a Social Carer, and when I was speaking to a friend about wanting to shift my skills from nannying into something that I feel passionate about, I was so excited to hear about Like Family, as it feels like the next step I would love to take! I absolutely love to sing and dance - working as a musician I really enjoy performing and have been writing my own music, whilst working with children and becoming an ADHD coach. I absolutely love anything creative, and being outdoors is my happy place! Whether it's surfing, swimming or being in the sun, I love to get outside and be active, as it helps my ADHD brain to feel calm, relaxed and clear. I love writing, listening to podcasts and learning about psychology (one of my many special interests!), and I would love to publish a book one day! In terms of skills, I am an excellent communicator, who takes initiative and has a very strong intuition! Working with children has allowed me to hone my communication skills with people of all ages and development, and a quality that I value in myself is my patience and understanding. I love to support others, and I understand that we all face different sets of challenges, and that there are varying support needs and strength unique to every person. As somebody who has done alot of work in events, I also love planning fun activities (which I have much practice at through nannying!) and I really enjoy being creative. As somebody with ADHD, I feel like I have lived experience of a life outside of neurotypical norms, which I see as a bit of a blessing despite the challenges, as I feel this has made me a very empathetic person, who wants the people around me to feel heard, safe and understood, where they may not always feel this way in their everyday lives.
