About

I would like to become a social carer as I love helping people and seeing people smile. If I can bring a little enjoyment to someone’s day, it makes me very happy. Some of my hobbies are listening to music, reading, cooking, gardening, shopping, and craftwork. I am also very hands-on and love working with animals. I love walking and exploring nature whether it be in the bush or the beach. I have spent the best part of my life (30 years) working in the legal field and would like a career change. Having life experience relating to this type of work, I have decided that I would like to work in social care, to study and further my qualifications down the line. I have cared for the sick and elderly before, both my mother, who was type 2 diabetic and was on dialysis. I assisted her with changing her dialysis bag every few hours. My father was a stroke victim. He was left paralyzed down the right side of his body. I also cared for him and spent time assisting him in his day-to-day living. My mother-in-law has the early stages of Parkinson’s Disease. She has just become immobile and I assist her from time to time in getting to doctor appointments and with domestic duties.
