To be honest the words "Social Carer" and "Like Family" stood out to me while looking for a job. I strongly believe that to become a successful social carer I need to be able to have the heart and mindset to treat whoever will come into my care, like family. Growing up and becoming my grandmother's full-time carer when she had knee surgeries a few years ago, was a sacrifice that I took that I wouldn't take for granted. It was a lot of work from appointments to swimming pool sessions to doctors follow-ups several times a week. To the point where I left university to be a full-time carer for her. There were several factors to consider, but I looked at it as, I can pick up education along the way, but I may not always have my grandmother. The small wins she would achieve and her look on her face made my sacrifice all worthwhile and memorable. My younger brother was always sick as a child, he always had problems with his asthma attacks which were very frequent. I chose to be his carer while my mum worked 2 jobs to provide for our family. It was because of my little brother that I had to learn to cook, take him on walks and create little adventures so as not to bore him in front of the TV. I guess for me, growing up I've always had to take care of someone it just became a habit. I love meeting people from all walks and getting to know them. I absolutely love church I go every week with my family. Love being outdoors, as a mother of 4 boys our backyard is mainly where we are, either kicking the ball around or in the garden. Going for walks I create little games along the way. I enjoy cooking and baking and get my kids involved as well. Travelling/road trips more like it. Listening to music. I'm a mother of 4 active boys. Most of my available hours would be in the afternoon when my husband will be able to look after my 3 at home. Saturday mornings you can find me at the rugby field being the loudest cheering my kid on.
