Hi, my name is Maya, I love working with people. I would love to assist and encourage you if you want to try new things! I am particularly interested in assisting people with disability ( autistic people and people with down syndrome). A partner of friend of mine and a family member of friends of mine are autistic and i realised that I would like to learn more and love to work with autistic people. I am also interested in Animal Assisted Therapy(AAT) as I love animals and experienced that animals give humans unconditional love and very supoortive. I apply person-centred and strength-based cares for my practice to achieve your goals. I can assist you practicing communication, cooking, doing dishes, going to school etc, the key is you will be more confident and independent. Feel free to let me know what you like and you prefer to. I would like to introduce myself. I grew up in Japan until my early 20s with my family. In my childhood, I used to play with a girl with intellectual disability without any hesitation. I understood she was not able to be verbally communicative but we always had fun together. This experience taught me that there is no boundaries among kids. I spent some time in my life with people who needed support or assistance (people with disability and elderly people). I used to visit a special school for kids with disabilities to hald a music concert as a member of concert bands when I was in primary school, and also visited a nursing home as a member of community visitor programme more than two years in Tasmania. I have good friends who are almost blind in Japan. We always have a lot of fun together (even drinking! ). They are very out-going and independent. I learned the way they enjoy their life and that reminds me of enjoying my life too. To gain my skills and qualifications, I studied Bachelor of Social Work and Bachelor of Arts with Honours specialised in Criminology at University of Tasmania. I studied on "the use of animals in Tasmanian Criminal Justice System". In my Social Work placement, I completed a 1000 hours placement as a family support worker and children contact centre. I understand Child protection system and the right of children in terms of seeing their parents after separation. Our clients had sometimes complex issues and I learned a lot from them such as gambling issues which related to mental health issues, post-separation parenting issues, bullies in school settings. Currently, I work at a hospital here in Sydney and also publish a blog article on animals and environment as a member of a Japanese company. I completed the Clinical Pastoral care Education course (CPE) at introduction level as a part of my professional development. (my hospital is so supportive!). I read books about trauma-informed care, anImals, autistic people, HSPs etc. I play instruments- Trumpet (more than 10 years and piano beginner, still practicing). Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions. I am always happy to answer your questions. I can be your good buddy! Thank you for reading. I look forward to hearing from you. Maya

Maya is an amazing support worker. She is very kind and genuine. I also see her as a wonderful life coach. She has had a really positive impact on me and has already helped me to make a difference in such a short space of time. I feel that Maya brings out the best in me. I would have no hesitation in recommending her.
