Hi - my name is Arn, usually spelled as Arne and pronounced as Arn or Arnie. You can read lots about me below but in a nutshell I like to make new friends and help others learn new things and develop new skills. I have two adult children, 19 and 21, and grew up with a significantly disabled brother who is still in the care of our parents. He is one of my best mates. I also have an 11 year old Staffy named Chief. He is white with black spots and is very friendly. I'm happy to help you and anyone else you know with pretty well anything and have a very nice car with a boot big enough to carry anything you may need for a day out. I also like catching public transport - especially trains and ferries. I live near Epping station and love hearing the freight trains as they rumble up and down the line. I'm also a very good cook - I can cook just about anything you can imagine and teach you how to do it as well and I also love to eat out and try new foods. I really enjoy shopping for meals, prepping them and cooking them. I love going to the fish markets, farmers markets and places like Harris Farm where theres all sorts of interesting things. French, Chinese, Italian, Thai, Malaysian, Indian, Japanese, Korean, Vietnamese, Tex-Mex, Aussie pies, vegetarian, BBQs, steak, fish and chips - you name it and I'll make it! If you want to know more about me please read the below and if you would like to catch up let me know and we'll figure a time. Cheers! All about me (its quite a read🙂) I'm looking for a change in career that will provide greater emotional satisfaction, along with some flexibility, in an industry that will allow me to help those in greater need. For the last 25 years I have worked in management roles and excel in leadership, communication, mentoring, educating and helping others be the best they can. I am a qualified Adult Vocational Educator and love helping people gain new knowledge, skills and experiences. I am a very social, outgoing person, almost an extrovert, that enjoys meeting new people and learning all about them. I enjoy fishing, boating, anything water/sea related and maritime (I was a submairner in the Royal Australian Navy when I was young) cooking, shopping, sport, cycling, Olympics, AFL, tennis, rugby & rugby league, tenpin bowling and lawn bowls, eating out and trying new cuisines, movies, TV, go-karts, gaming, tinkering with boats and cars, animals and ecology, bushwalks, museums, train and ferry rides, motor racing, skiing, driving, beach walks. I enjoy travelling and am happy to do that as well if needed, eg trips to coastal towns, country towns & farms - anywhere. I like to do just about anything and if I havent done it before I'm sure I'll want to try it! I am particularly fond of fishing and boating, as is my son, and find being on or near the water tranquil and peaceful. I love that you can always see and learn new things when fishing, two weeks ago my son and I came a cross a large seal frollicking on the surface near Greenwich Ferry Wharf. I also enjoy the time fishing gives you to talk to someone, learn about them and bond with them. My birth mother was young and singie when i was born so I was placed straight into State care. When I was eventually fostered out I was adopted by my foster family when I was about to turn 5. Mt brother, Garth, is also adopted and is an NDIS participant. He has severe intellectual and physical disabilitiess and has been in 24/7 care with my parents since the day he was adopted. Our parents are well into their 80's and Garth spends a weekend a month away at special respite accommodation. He also has social support, so tenpin bowloing, movies, lunches and lawn bowls and I've seen how beneficial these outings have been fo him and our parents. I will become Garths guardian and carer when our parents hand over their responsibilities. As they have been caring for hom for 53 years, and he has rarely been out of their sight, they are finding this process difficult so it is progressing slowly. I have always been involved with my brothers care, and being adopted, I have a special understanding and empathy which can't be replicated for those who care for a child, or grew up caring for a sibling, in a similar situation. Growing up with my brother taught me empathy, patience and persistence, and great respect for what my parents and other parents and families had to do to care for a disabled family member, the dreams they had to forgo, the sacrifices that had to be made, but I also got to experience the joy that comes from helping someone that truly needs it and seeing the pleasure they get when enjoying themselves. I never knew my birth parents, my birth father is completely unknown. My daughter found my birth mother 3 years ago but sadly she died the year prior. My birth mothers husband and her children do not want to know me as they never knew anything about this, and my birth mother married 3 months after I was born, it was very distressing for her husband to learn of my existence. When I was young I spent over 13 years as a submariner with the Royal Australian Navy and if you are interested in anything military we can have a good chat about that as well I often find people can be quite fascinated and about all things submarines and the military in general. Thanks for reading, I hope I can be of service!
