I want to become a Social Carer because I'm empathetic and caring by nature. I'm good with people, and genuinely enjoy interacting with others in a positive, helpful way. I have had a fast paced career in magazine publishing when I was younger and have also run my own Interior design business. I'm at a point where I want to work at a different, more meaningful pace with different objectives, that involve my natural caring skills and positive nature. I love making homes beautiful inside, but also love being outdoors and active in nature. I walk a lot and enjoy tennis and skiing and yoga. I am quite good at word games and a big reader. I enjoy helping people get organised, like sorting their pantry or editing their wardrobe and love gardening and cooking. I am a social being, always up for a cup of tea and a good chat. I enjoy museums and art galleries, especially if my grown up sons come with me. When I was quite young I briefly worked for an agency in London, caring for older people in their homes, which was an eye opener for me at the time. It felt meaningful stepping into other people's lives and helping them navigate and make the most of their day together as a team. I have also taught skiing and discovered I had loads of patience and enthusiasm. It was really satisfying watching my pupils progress and build their confidence and love of skiing. I have also had some experience with people with high functioning Autism in my personal life and am well versed in ASD. I used to volunteer at my children's primary school, helping the children with Christmas crafts every year and encouraging the kids as a course steward at the annual cross country run. I'm very much a team player.
