About

I love working with new people all the time! In the last five years, I have worked with a wide variety of communities in my home country Colombia. I studied anthropology and since I graduated from University I have dedicated my time to listen and represent people's thoughts, opinions, perceptions and dreams. I did this for informing national policies focused in improving people's well-being and economic conditions. Colombia is a country that has been hit extensively by social issues such as internal displacement, poverty, and political violence. The stories that I have harvested from these experiences are both sweet and heartbreaking. For me, it has been lovely to connect, touch hands and provoke smiles among farmers, indigenous communities and women-led social movements. Nevertheless, It has also been challenging to enact meaningful actions to make their lives easier! With this in mind, I think I can be a great Social carer. My heart is opened to other realities and I think I have the ability to empathize with many difficult situations.^& ^&I am involved during the weekends in a bush care volunteer group at Lane Cove National Park. I know that a lot of people are very interested in engaging a bit more with nature and conservation. First, I would invite the member of the community to share a day with me and some other friends in the National Park, maybe by organizing a BBQ or a Picnic. I would be open to sharing with him/her interesting facts about the national park. Eventually, I would mention the opportunity to join me to participate in bush care volunteering in the park. WIth the beauty of the park in the background, I am sure this member would be pretty excited and motivated to join.^&
