What's a Meet and Greet?
A Meet and Greet is a fantastic way to see if a Social Carer will be the right match for your needs. You meet up in person or via a phone/video call for up to an hour, ask a bunch of questions, and get to know each other. You're welcome to bring members of your Support Circle with you!
How can I prepare for a Meet and Greet?
To make the most out of a Meet and Greet, come prepared with a list of important questions. Here are some topics you may want to cover:
- what, when and where you will require support
- what goals you're working towards
- your likes, dislikes and any triggers
- if transport is required
- possible expenses, like parking

I have now been the lucky recipient of 3 Social Carers through Like Family! Each one was perfectly matched for what I was needing and each of them lived locally which was really important. It was such an easy process to get in contact with them and each of them have now become part of our family!
Frequently asked questions
How does a Meet and Greet work?
A Meet and Greet is like a 1 hour booking to see if you and a Social Carer will be a good match. First, you'll need to request a Meet and Greet via the Like Family dashboard. You'll need to arrange a time, date and location with the Social Carer to meet up (this can be face-to-face or online). On the day, you should ask each other questions about your support needs, hobbies, availability, and anything else that you think is relevant. Once the Meet and Greet has ended, you can decide whether to work with the Social Carer or look for someone else.
How many Meet and Greets can I book?
We want to make sure you find the right Social Carer for your needs. That's why we offer up to 5 free Meet and Greets, for up to 1 hour each. Any additional Meet and Greets will need to be paid for.
How long should a Meet and Greet go for?
A Meet and Greet shouldn't take more than an hour. If you do go over time, you will need to pay for any additional hours. Consider writing a list of questions you'd like to ask ahead of time.
Are Meet and Greets compulsory?
You don't need to arrange a Meet and Greet if you don't want to, but we highly recommend it if you're looking for ongoing support.
Can I bring other people to a Meet and Greet?
Yes, you can! You're welcome to bring a family member, friend or your Support Coordinator to your Meet and Greet if you like.
Where should a Meet and Greet take place?
You can have a Meet and Greet via a phone call, video call or face-to-face. If you'd prefer to meet in person, choose a place that's easy to access and feels safe, like your home or a local cafe.
