My name is Cynthia and I studied nursing and science of nursing in Germany. I have been travelling for the past four years through Australia, New Zealand, South America and Europe and I recently moved back to Australia to live and work here. I have always been fascinated with social work and mental health and have always been interested in supporting people outside of the normal hospital setting. During my apprenticeship in a mental health hospital I worked in various departments with patients having all different kinds of mental disorders. While I was working as a registered nurse in that mental health hospital I was assisting the patients with their daily living tasks inside the hospital. During their stay at the hospital, I would go for a walk in the park with them, go to buy groceries and cook together at the hospital (group activity), taking them to doctors appointments or other appointments, playing board games or other games like table tennis, table football or mini golf. I would go with them to their homes to get their personal belongings or mail and sometimes get a coffee or an ice cream and just have a conversation. Those kind of activities with the patients I always enjoyed, because I could see how much joy those simple things bring to someone who is having a challenging time in their life. With the job as a Social Carer I would finally get the chance to use my compassion and skills to make a difference in peoples lives, help clients achieve their goals and build a better life for themselves. During my travels in the last four years through foreign countries I have met different people from all walks of life, which has increased my compassion towards others. I am always happy to listen without judgement and meet and connect with new people. ^& ^&I am open for any new hobbies and happy to try out different things. I enjoy all aspects of nature, I love to go for walks or hikes, I enjoy spending time at the beach playing beach volleyball or swimming. I recently started roller blading, indoor climbing and acrylic painting and I would be happy to have a companion for those hobbies. I love to learn and speak different languages, my mother tongue is German which I am happy to teach if anyone is interested. I also speak conversational level Italian and basic Spanish. ^&
