I really enjoy meeting new people, I have always been involved in the community around me from a young age. I’ve coached local basketball teams and go to local puzzle meetups at community centres. I studied to become an enrolled nurse and after working as one for a year I met a family looking for a carer for their young daughter who has down syndrome. I’ve now been with the same family for nearly 6 years and another family for 2 years prior to this one. I have learned ALOT about being a carer and being around the community in these last 8 years! I have worked with verbal and non verbal children/teens and have a diverse range of experience with all spectrums of disability. ^& ^&I currently take one of the teens I care for to many community based activities. For example we attend emotion 21 for dance classes each week and then perform together at the concerts! I have a passion for jigsaw puzzles and regularly attend group meet ups where I spend time with the elderly working on their fine motor skills and keeping their brains active while completing various puzzles. ^&
