I believe that I would make a great Social Carer as I have a lot of work experience in similar roles to this. One of current jobs is as a helper/carer with an organisation called Lively. In this position, I work with clients/members to help them out with achieving their goals and doing things together with the aim of connecting younger and older generations. We share stories and hobbies, and I help with any tasks they need assistance with such as cleaning, gardening, arts and crafts, organising clutter and many more. A big part of this job is in exercising empathy and understanding that the people you're working can be very isolated and vulnerable and knowing how to be sensitive and aware of this. ^& ^&I am interested in many different things and really enjoy not only sharing my own hobbies with others but also getting introduced to new ones from my clients ( one client has recently taught me how to crochet and now we have an activity that we can do together and share the experience of). Something I could share with clients is my love of anything creative- especially music and singing. We could find songs that they enjoy listening to and I could help show them how to learn to sing these or play them on a musical instrument. Or, to add more of a social element related to this example, encouraging them to join a choir or music class if it is something that they think they might like. Hobbies and learning new skills are a great way to meet new people, so I always encourage exploring new things like this with my clients. ^&
