I started in the Disability sector in 1998. I had been made redundant after eight years of being the manager of a Plaster warehouse. Working with both Trade and Retail customers, you have to be able to be able to negotiate, and compromise to get an outcome suitable to both parties. I have a sense of Humor, Empathy, Compassion, Understanding, and Listening Skills. ^& ^&Working in the Homelessness sector for the last 13 years, I have made a lot of contacts and networks which enabled me to get the best outcomes for the Participants I worked with. Before working in Disability, I was a Single parent with three daughters for five years. When made redundant from the Plaster warehouse, I wasn't sure what to do. My partner suggested I try working in Disability. When I asked doing what, she said exactly what you do now with your kids. My partner was working as a manager with DHS Disability. Being a single parent I was, cook, cleaner, taxi, mentor, friend, not so friendly, parent, Mum, Dad, bank, teacher, as well as worked six days a week. To do this, a really really good sense of humor is mandatory which I still have today. My partner has two daughters, so we have five daughters, and now have six Grandson's and one Granddaughter, which is a whole different for another day. ^&
