I started caring for people when I was younger as I would always help my mother care for my elderly grandparents whether it was cooking or cleaning their house or helping them to get up the stairs I just knew it was something I had a knack for so as soon as i graduated high school in 2016 I instantly started looking for ways to further my passion and I stumbled on Aged care at a nursing home. I loved that job and I loved helping the Elderly but i was given the opportunity to discover support work which is where it all really kicked off for me, I was working with these amazing people at a large day service that had around 70 participants and I absolutely loved helping some of the guys develop their skills whether it was public transport training or just social outings. I worked with one young man around my age who had autism and his parents told me he doesn't talk much he will only respond with nods or grunts and over the course of about a year I grew so passionate in helping him develop his skills and really see what he was capable of I ended up helping him get his learners and work experience in his dream field which was helping out in a computer store. All of that is why I would make such a great social carer because I really feel rewarded helping people explore the world and learn amazing new skills whether its helping them develop independence skills or social outings at a cafe'.^& ^&I have a lot of experience helping people develop skills in the community the moment they step out the door, It could be helping them understand public transport and can range from helping them understand money handling skills. I have a lot of patience and love watching people slowly develop these independent skills that can greatly benefit them.^&
