I love seeing the smile on the faces of the people I support whenever they achieve little things that they have been working towards to promote their independence. I have a caring personality and I am very patient, understanding and with good listening skills. Before moving to Australia, I cared for both of my grandmothers, one had terminal and the other dementia, so I truly understand how much my support and care means to people in dire need of it. As a social carer, some days with clients can be challenging and during such times I have always known that this is when they need us the most. This is when they need our utmost understanding, patience, empathy and care to help brighten their world. ^& ^&I love using my skills and sharing my interests with my clients whenever I am working with them. For example, during personal care & showering, I love to sing songs to brighten their moods. I also love reading and I read bedtime stories to one of my clients which sparks their interest and become inquisitive, hence expanding their knowledge. I also love going on walks and jogging, therefore, depending on the ability of the participant, I do share my hobbies and whilst participating in activities the love. Sometimes, as in sharing my hobbies, they develop new interests which is a great thing.^&
