Often I am the only person they can rely on and sometimes the only person they may see that week, so my role is extremely important. To share my skills/hobbies with someone I will: Get their attention, and make sure they are looking at me. Remove any background distractions. Use language that they understands and keep my sentences short and simple. Use a clear, calm voice. Start with the easiest step, then let them try it. Move slowly through the steps so they can clearly see what I am doing. A picture/video clips that shows them what to do can help them understand the instructions. Give them plenty of opportunities to practice. The most important thing is that they will have fun doing the activity.^&
