I have exceptional interpersonal and communication skills and always go above and beyond to ensure the comfort of others. I believe that quality of life is critical and having the privilege to improve the quality of someone's life is incredibly rewarding. I grew up within a family of six with the youngest being 7 and on the high end of the spectrum. As a family we went through some extremely difficult times when he was younger but with patience, compassion and understanding we knew that it was well worth it. Regardless of the challenges it brought us, it was never an option to give up the care that he required. He was non-verbal, diagnosed with a sensory disorder and GDD. I get to pick him up from his special school a few days a week and have the opportunity to interact with all the other children there. I absolutely love it. I have provided support for a wide range of people including people/relatives with mental illness (depression, anxiety and PTSD), the elderly and young kids with special needs. I have the ability to empathise and relate so that the other person feels understood and heard. I am also extremely reliable as I know how essential some routines are to maintain. There's an extremely creative side to me as I’m always focusing on how to improve my quality of life and love to inspire others to the same. I love building new relationships and proving extra encouragement. I know there are challenges involved but I strongly believe that it's well worth it. ^& ^&I'm aware that teaching someone a skill/hobby takes time and patience as it may not be as easy for the other person. I would ensure that the other person wants to participate or not. If they do, I would provide a demonstration, give clear instructions. This is when encouragement is essential! I wouldn't be afraid to bend any rules to make it easier/ more comfortable for the other person. I would engage in the activity to give guidance. An example of sharing my skills, i have contributed in a program called Bush Care which involved rehabilitating a wide range of areas that had been destroyed. This involved a lot of time outdoors and LOTS of gardening. I was able to share my knowledge with other people by giving them demonstrations, clearly communicating and providing tons of encouragement. I believe there is no such thing as failure. ^&
