I wanted to become a social carer....if I am being honest there are so many titles for caring for people, I am still learning. I have been in hospitality for 25 years and decided a change in career was needed so I began my search in October last year (while also having a holiday) Xmas eve I receive a text from an old customer asking if I would be interested in being a carer for her daughter, so I took this opportunity and now I couldnt think of anything else i would rather do. Helping someone else smile, have something to look forward to and just live their best life nearly feels selfish because I get to live my best life at the same time! Why i know I will be good at this.....apart from everyone in my life telling me Im suited for this career path. I am a people person. I guess my nature is to nurture, I wasnt able to have children (sorry might be too much info) but because of this I have been lucky enough to have been able to help and be there for my own friends and family when they needed a rock someone to listen to, someone who could help them smile and make them feel positive. I just know for sure I want to help other people wake up with something to look forward to and know someone is always here when they need it. Family, my mum is my heart but they all live in NZ :( Travel which is kind of a hobbie as well since i love to plan the whole trip with family and friends, new experiences, all the different types of food, architecture, long walks in new places. I make a great coffee, multitasking, organised, event planning, listening, talking, adapting to different scenarios extremely well. I am currently studying my Certificate 3 in Individual Support for Disability and Aged Care.
