I love working with people and find pride in bettering individuals life. I am extremely sociable and love to meet new people. I have good communication skills, listen actively and empathise with individuals. I was born in Ireland and have moved to Sydney to build a better, more enjoyable life for myself. Prior to moving to Sydney I had a career working alongside individuals with learning disabilities, challenging behaviours and mental health issues for 6+ years. I am an excellent team worker and very enthusiastic. I have gained a lot of experience in my previous career, my roles varied from caring for the individuals, carrying out personal care needs, assisting with cooking, planning daily activities, encouraging family engagement and so much more. I then worked my way up to a senior support worker where I worked alongside management to help complete weekly/monthly audits, input with care planning, managing client’s finances, attending regular MDT meetings. My role also included managing the staff on the floor, inducting new members of staff and setting an example for new/inexperienced staff. I also conducted yearly medication competencies with staff, carried out monthly supervisions and yearly appraisals. I also became a certified instructor for the crisis prevention institute and provided many training days for our staff and staff in other facilities. ^& ^&I will be able to share many skills and hobbies with anyone in the community as I am a friendly person and enjoy listening to others. I will use my years of experience to help others in any way I can to improve their quality of life and I will incorporate my hobbies such as sports to maintain a healthy lifestyle. For example, my enjoyment for walking, I would encourage others in the community to join me making it enjoyable and make it accommodating for everyone involved.^&
