I believe the most important thing I can do for someone is to respect their autonomy and assist with compassion and care. I derive immense satisfaction from understanding the world through my client's eyes and collaboratively cultivating fulfillment and tranquility in their lives. For the past year, I've been dedicated to providing support services through NDIS, particularly to a gentleman managing Parkinson's and cancer. Our activities together span from peaceful strolls in the park to fun adventures. Additionally, I advocate for his needs in medical settings, and when things become overwhelming, he participates in my meditation sessions, where I share stress reduction techniques. Currently, I am in my final year of a bachelor’s degree, pursuing a double major in psychology and counselling. I believe living with any form of reduced capacity doesn't diminish the potential for joy and purpose.^& ^&I am a good listener and know how to hold a comforting space for my clients. With a love of the arts, and a sense of adventure I can find fun things to do within the community. For example, I have taken clients to art exhibitions, hot springs in the Blue Mountains, and dance with Parkinson’s day. I have watched movies at cinemas and taken nature walks or drives with clients. On days when my clients do not feel up to going out, I am able to find fun activities, whether it is playing board games, collating photos, or designing an arts and crafts project. As a trained counsellor, I can provide a safe space where clients feel at ease sitting in silence or reflecting. ^&
