Growing up I witnessed the challenges of poor mental health within my family. The obstacles associated with these challenges along with my own mental and physical troubles were a hindrance to my development. I struggled academically, I could not keep commitments, try new things, achieve goals and had a low evaluation of my self. After years of encouragement from my parents I agreed to seek professional help after completing the HSC. Employing the cognitive, behavioural and mindfulness strategies I learn't in therapy I gradually became more confident. Overtime I was able to set and achieve goals, have new experiences, and enjoy life. Amazed by the power of a changed mindset, I wanted to share my experience with others. I started a degree in Psychological Science with the goal of becoming a Clinical Psychologist to help people the way my psychiatrist helped me. In June 2022 I completed my undergraduate degree and am now halfway to becoming a Clinical Psychologist. I am looking to gain experience while I continue my academic journey. I aim to employ the skills and knowledge I learn't in my degree along with my own experience to help others.^& ^&During my degree I learn't the importance of love, having someone who cares for you unconditionally, who is consistent, reliable and always supportive can help a person tremendously. I aim to share my empathy for others to make meaningful and longterm connections with people in my community.^&
