I've always had a passion for people, growing up I'd chat for hours to everyone and anyone. I was born in Northern-Ireland but moved to Scotland to complete my Psychology degree as I was certain that social care was the field for me. Helping others was always my focus, and being active in my community was a great way to help others whilst also having that sense of wellbeing and belonging for myself. Creating lasting relationships with people of different backgrounds was so fulfilling for me as I am a firm believer that you can learn something from everyone. Last year I left the UK to travel as I had intended to after university but couldn't because of covid. Having spent sometime living in South America, I came to Austrailia to settle down for awhile and work. Seeing this position got me super excited that I could go back to working a job that I loved so dearly whilst also gaining a completely new perspective in a new place. I've always been the friend that everyone is first to go to in a crisis, if they need a chat or need to get something off their chest. I have training and certificates in Adult Protection, Introduction to Trauma and Mental Health First Aid, although I've been told that my enthusiasm and attitude has been instrumental to my success in previous roles. I am also able to relocate for work as I am planning on travelling to the Gold Coast in March. ^& ^&I am endlessly curious so I have many hobbies that stem from things I have picked up and learnt from others, so it's important to me to continue to spread and inspire creativity, motivation and self-belief. Teaching Graphic Design in my workshop was amazing as I was able to take a self-taught hobby of mine and share that with others that occasionally would go onto start careers in photography and design. I think that being the positive encouragement for others allows them to gain the confidence they need to try something new, or stay motivated with a current hobby. I am well versed in crafts and arty activities and I strongly believe these kinds of hobbies can be incredibly therapeutic for people, but a lot of the time a helping-hand is needed to access them or to encourage self-belief. I am good at adapting to different interests, needs and levels of support so I believe I could be the help someone may need to really improve their day-to-day wellbeing wether that's just helping with daily tasks, a friend to speak to or someone to have fun with.^&
