My church pastor invited me to become a Ministry Trainee several years ago because of my mature communication and interpersonal skills. In my work as a Ministry Trainee at Campus Bible Study at the University of New South Wales (UNSW), I led Bible study group weekly and provided emotional and spiritual support to fellowship members through weekly individual catch up. The fellowship members trusted me and were willing to share their thoughts and personal experiences with me. For instance, when one brother from the fellowship experienced a hard time due to a heartbreaking rejection from a lady, he initiated to meet up with me regularly and let me walk the difficult journey with him. I gladly did so. In addition, being a leader of international students, I have developed skills to communicate with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds. Through these experiences, I have consolidated my communication and interpersonal skills to create a warm, friendly, and supportive environment to build relationships with different people. I also found immense joy in using these strengths of mine to serve God and the people in need. I am able to work effectively in a team environment as well as independently. In my two-year work as a Ministry Trainee, I had to collaborate with other colleagues to organize different church activities. The activities ranged from small to large scales, including social activities for the fellowship, Sunday services, and large-scale church camps. There was once an unexpected incidence at the church camp. Right before the start of a seminar, the video stopped working. In the discussion with colleagues, I proposed that I could drive 25 km to pick up a copy of the video. All of my colleagues agreed that this was the best solution at that time, I did drive to pick it up and the seminar went well at the end. My individual catch ups with fellowship members weekly were all organized by myself with minimal supervision from my church pastor. I managed to meet up with at least 2 members regularly over the two-year period. ^& ^&I will share my skills firstly by communicating well with the community about the skills I have and the things that they are interested. After that I will share my skills with them and keep them engaged, perhaps to invite them to participate in the hobby as well.^&
