About

My motivation for becoming a social carer began with my family. I loved my grandparents very much and when my grandpa was diagnosed with dementia I enjoyed going on outings with him to his favourite restaurant and always asked my mum if I could come along. After his passing I supported my grandma by bringing over home cooked meals, visiting regularly for a chat, and playing the piano for her. I have also experienced supporting family members with mental health conditions including depression, anxiety, and borderline personality disorder. I have seen first hand how social connection and environment can greatly impact mental health and how shifting these positively can lead to achievement in overcoming barriers and challenges associated with these conditions. Additionally, my experience as a childcare worker for Northern Beaches Council ignited a passion in caring for others, enriching everyday experiences, and creating a sense of belonging. I believe I would be great at being a social care worker as I bring a fun, bubbly personality with a positive outlook on life and through my experiences I can provide connection and understanding to the person I am working with. My main passion is music. I have almost completed my Bachelor's degree in music at the Academy of Music and Performing Arts, set to finish on the 11th December this year. I am a songwriter and multi instrumentalist: I play piano, guitar, ukulele, drums and sing. Music is powerful in so many ways, and I would love to share this passion with mine with others to positively impact lives. I also have other hobbies I enjoy such as sewing, cooking and hiking. I really enjoy spending time in nature, and I believe time in nature is important for us to feel connection and belonging with the earth, and to find a feeling of grounding in ourselves and the present moment when challenges are present. I also love dogs, picnics and the beach.
