Patience, empathy, resilience, and effective communication. All of which are skills I believe are essential to being a great social carer. Working with vulnerable people can be quite challenging, therefore having the capacity to handle any pressure is essential for the duties at hand. My passion for helping people with disabilities has grown as a result of my personal experience with caring for a person with both intellectual and physical disabilities. I am aware that everyone has a story to tell, and I am eager to meet new people and build connections with them. Clients are able to depend on me to provide a professional service and care in addition to having a warm and caring personality.^& ^&“Sharing your gift also provides knowledge for others” So in sharing, we help others navigate their journey. I would talk about my hobbies and skills with the member of the community as a way to inspire them. Once I discover a shared interest, I would plan an activity centred around that hobby or skill. For instance, if someone asked about my particular love of cooking, I would talk about my favourite foods or recipes, which I could then prepare for them while also educating them.^&
