I consider myself a fun-loving people person that is passionate about improving the lives of others. Being the second eldest in a family of 7 I am very well acquainted with being responsible for and taking care of others. This is an experience which has providing me with a high level of patience, empathy and understanding. Further, being raised by parents that are highly community orientated (mother - teacher, father - paramedic) I have been instilled with the values of respect, integrity and service. I am going into my third year of study at the University of Wollongong completing a Bachelor of Psychology (Honours) and am looking for the opportunity to be a part of a real-world setting that I can bring my knowledge to. I have worked at the Royal Hotel Camden as a bartender for coming up to 3 years, where I find great pleasure in building rapport and genuine connections with customers. I also have previous experience in a high stress environment working as a medical receptionist, coordinating the needs of 20+ doctors and their patients at a highly respected Family Practice. In addition, I have community experience as an assistant soccer coach and referee for over 9 years. All of which I believe makes me a suitable candidate to be an excellent Social Carer. ^& ^&The hobby I am most passionate about would be sports, in particular soccer. I have had experience playing soccer at the representative level which involved a high level of discipline, time management and commitment. I have also engaged with soccer at the local level, as an assistant coach for my little brother’s team and even as a referee. Whether this hobby allows me to connect with individuals on a personal level based on shared interest or more broadly in terms of the interpersonal skills acquired, I am eager to capitalise on that experience. I also strongly believe in the benefits to wellbeing that are a by-product of the physical, social and mental aspects associated with team sport. However, I love all things creative and adventurous and firmly believe my passion for being involved in such an activity that makes us feel alive is transferable across multiple settings. ^&
