I decided to become a social carer as my life has led me directly here. I have personal experience with illness and disability and have learnt to manage my own illness to the point where i can work again, and i want to be able to help others get more enjoyment, independence, satisfaction and be healthier and happier overall. I am a keen swimmer, cyclist, walker, bush walker. I love food, cooking, movies, art and music. I am an ex-lifeguard, chef, wardsman at the hospital and am currently qualified and have experience as a Disability Support Worker. I recently cared for my mother for two years until her passing after several strokes. I have had great results with one client in particular who had Parkinsons Disease, with exercise and diet changes leading to a significant reduction in his symptoms and benefits to his mood and well being. I gained significant insights into stroke management and rehabilitation with my mother and feel i could help people that want to improve mobility and engage in healthy activities to achieve their goals. I have a lot of experience advocating for people in health and social service areas. I am currently enrolled to study a Certificate 4 in Health and Leisure.
