Hiya ☺️ I was motivated to become a Social Carer with Like Family following a 4+ year role as a Disability Support Practitioner where my heart overflowed with being able to provide quality care and support to my clients which improves their living experience in so many ways. With kindness, warmth and genuine interest in my support role, I witnessed first hand the joy, happiness and self esteem of so many of my clients improve, when they were able to do things they never thought they could, with the right support, encouragement and positive attitude☺️ I adore helping people reach their unique goals, however how perceived small or large. I enjoy being involved in creative pursuits of all kinds, from music to art, cooking to singing, with sensory development and therapy being a core passion of mine. I enjoy supporting clients with learning, communication and behavioural needs, and have alot of experience supporting high needs clients, with varying conditions such as Autism, CP, non-verbal, Spina Bifida, Down Syndrome, to name a few. I love being able to support someone learn new skills, and develop existing skills further. I come from 17+ years as a former Radiographer (Medical Imaging), having worked in private, public and independent settings. My Healthcare background has been very beneficial in my ability to understand clinical information, as well as be able to identify risks early, and trouble shoot well on my feet. I enjoy learning and teaching/mentoring and have a Bachelor's in Contemporary Music and Songwriting. 🎶 I also have a fondness for Sound Healing, and have a certificate in this area, which I hope to begin sound healing sessions in the near future and open them up to NDIS participants. I used to run weekly groups at the lifestyle centre I worked in, and they were always popular with the clients, enjoying the peaceful, relaxing environment, a change from the hustle and bustle of everyday. I have my Certificate III in Individual Support, and am fully trained in all areas of Disability Support, having worked for a leading Support Provider. I have just moved to the Central Coast, and am really looking forward to being able to support members of my local community and make new connections! Say hi and let's chat further ☺️
