About

I am a caring and compassionate person. At middle age, I have realised that my life purpose is to help others and I am passionate about spending the remainder of my life aligned with this purpose. I have recently commenced a bachelor’s degree in social work, and I’m now ready to leave full time employment, allowing more time to complete my degree, pursue employment opportunities which are more aligned with social work and my values and perform meaningful work in the community. I’ve raised 2 children, now young adults, who have flourished and have flown the nest, allowing me more time to dedicate to helping others and to pursue my personal goals. My schedule is very flexible including sleep over shifts. As a mature worker, I am adaptable in working either in a team or a role which is autonomous. I enjoy the social interaction of working with clients and others. I have worked with people from a variety of cultural backgrounds and mental disorders during my employment at Lifeline. Recently, I completed the First Nations subject at university which has also significantly increased my cultural competence and understanding of working with Indigenous Australians. My solid work experience in 18-month accredited Lifeline counselling, community liaison work in local government involving working with vulnerable residents, and human resources management background has allowed me to develop a strong combination of unique skills and competencies that would be suited to a wide range of Like family clients, which I have achieved through a rewarding career and life. I am humble, human, and full of hope. Feedback from others suggests that I am a good listener, as I find that this the only way, I can learn, then help others. I definitely don’t have all of the answers, especially when it comes to someone else’s life, only that individual knows what will truly work for them. I live a simple life and I’m grateful for the little things. Most importantly I do not judge others, we are all on a different life journey and I treat everyone equally. I am a big believer in people and their capacity to go through, sometimes very traumatic circumstances, and be able to recover and flourish. I have a personal philosophy to always leave people better than you found them. Each interaction is important whether you are dealing with other colleagues, managers, cleaners, other stakeholders, or clients. I enjoy building trust and rapport with others and treat others equally and with the utmost respect. People may not always remember what you said, but they will always remember how you made them feel. In terms of interests, I love nature, swimming, hiking, cooking healthy meals and connecting socially with others. I also possess good planning, organisational skills and life skills. Additionally, I have a solid understanding of ethics and how to work within legislation and procedures. Attached is the NDIS Worker Orientation Module Certificate and have I have begun the other requirements for this role such as applying updated First Aid certificate and changing my WWC and Police check volunteer to working checks. As I am located in Bundanoon, I am available for shifts in the Wollongong and the Bowral area. I have a reliable insured car and clean drivers licence. Finally, I am keen to discuss the possibility of joining the Like Family team and further developing my social work career. Please feel to contact me for additional career details and qualifications. I look forward to hearing from you at your convenience. Thank you for your time and consideration of my application. ^& ^&I could demonstrate and take the person through a guided meditation if it was something that they were interested to learn.. ^&
