I wanted to become a social carer because I love to help other people and I enjoy making a positive difference in peoples lives. I'm a good listener who is patient, kind, caring and empathetic. I can't think of anything more rewarding then helping to improve the quality of life of those experiencing mental or physical health issues, loneliness, recovering from injury or just needing a little bit of extra support with their day to day lives. I believe everyone deserves good company and someone in their corner. Growing up I was a competitive cheerleader and dancer, I know what it's like to work with other people to achieve a common goal. It takes great communication, dedication, determination and passion. These skills help me in all aspects of life and could definitely be used to help other people be able to achieve their goals too. I enjoy being outdoors, going for walks by the beach, listening to music, spending time with friends and doing arts and crafts. I also love listening to other people, their stories, background and finding out what they are interested in. I am passionate about helping people, celebrating their successes and being there through the good, the bad and the ugly. No one should struggle on their own. I love making people smile, it makes the world a better place. I've been working as an early childhood educator for the last 7 years and been babysitting since my early teens. I've coached tumbling and cheerleading on the side as well as caring for my elderly neighbour who has chronic pain, memory issues, diabetes and mental health struggles. I also have my certificate 3 as an assistant in nursing (AIN). I personally have dealt with serious injuries and multiple chronic illnesses which had a very long, isolating and traumatic road to recovery. During this time I suffered severely with depression and anxiety. I know what it's like to feel hopeless and see no end in sight and it's something I don't want other people to have to go through alone. I want to be there for anyone that needs support regardless of their situation.
