NDIS reviews and uncertainty around funding can be a stressful and overwhelming experience for our Members, their family and their wider support circle.

Like Family is an NDIS-approved provider, and with many of our community utilising Social Carer supports for companionship, to achieve goals or maintain daily routines and tasks, we receive a lot of contact from those concerned about how they will continue to access Social Carer supports if funding is no longer available or reduced.

If you are having trouble in planning for a review or you haven’t received the funding that you need, we would recommend contacting an organisation such as Disability Advocacy NSW who may be able to help. See da.org.au for more information.

How can Like Family help?

One of our priorities is to do our best to support our Members during this period.

Firstly, we are committed to maintaining a flat-rate of $40 per hour on weekdays, weekends and even public holidays!

In order to reduce this cost further, we also have the option of 2:1 or 3:1 bookings. Two-on-One and Three-on-One bookings allow Members to complete activities with one or two other Members. This also provides an opportunity to make new friends and enjoy a social setting while still being supported by your Social Carer.

In addition to this, our Customer Happiness Team has shared some tips and tricks that our Members have utilised to make sure that they can continue doing the things they love:

Booking Type: Grocery shopping and getting a cuppa with your Social Carer

Cost saving tip: Walk or catch a bus to a local cafe and on your way, your Social Carer can support you to use online grocery shopping to order your groceries for delivery. You can also order online and then pick them up from the shops. This saves time spent picking out groceries but still allows you to have access to food and spend time out and about in the community with your Social Carer.

Booking Type: Community Access (outings and activities)

Cost saving tip: Organise a 2:1 or 3:1 booking with your Social Carer and other Members. If you don’t know any other Members, call our team and we can look to find other Members with similar interests and of a similar age. You may also like to attend a meet-up together! You can find out more information about Like Family meet-ups here.
