How can I apply to be a Support Worker?

  1. Sign up
Your online application starts with a short quiz to ensure you'll uphold our community values.
  2. Tell us about yourself
Once you’ve created an account (it only takes a few minutes), share a thing or two about your passions, skills and why you want an opportunity as a Social Carer.
  3. Upload relevant documents
Depending on the work you want to do, you must provide certain documents for verification and participate in an online induction. Refer to the list below for more information.

What documents do I need for my application?

You must provide the following documents before you can become a Social Carer:

Our Social Carers are self-employed. This means you’ll need a valid ABN and the right to work in Australia. Apply for an ABN here.

If you wish to support NDIS Members, you must obtain your NDIS Worker Screening Check first. Otherwise, you can provide a valid National Police Check if you only want to support Aged Care or privately-funded Members.

You’ll need to provide three references we can contact before we can approve your application. You may wish to nominate a colleague, employee or supervisor. They cannot be family members. Learn more about references.

As a registered NDIS provider, our Social Carers are subject to all government mandates regarding COVID-19 vaccinations for aged care and disability support workers. You must be fully vaccinated according to your state government's requirements. Read our COVID-19 vaccination policy.

This Department of Health module covers the fundamentals of infection prevention and control for COVID-19. It is mandatory for anyone who works in healthcare settings. Once you have attained the Certificate of Completion, it can be uploaded to your Social Carer account. Complete your COVID-19 Infection Control Training here.

Social Carers must be able to verify their identity and right to work in Australia by producing 100 points of identification upon request. Learn what documents can be accepted for identity verification here.

The following documents are optional, but will allow you to apply for more activities on our platform:

The NDIS Worker Orientation Module, "Quality, Safety and You", is a mandatory requirement to work with NDIS Members and only takes about 90 minutes to complete. It will give you a sound understanding of what it's like working in the industry and offer tips on how to become an excellent Social Carer. You can access it on the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission's website.

A growing number of our Members are under the age of 18. If you wish to work with them, you will need to upload a valid Working with Children Check (NSW/VIC/SA) or Blue Card (QLD). Learn more about working with Members under 18.

About 30% of Activities posted on our platform involve transportation. If you wish to provide transport to Members, you must provide a clear photo or screenshot of your current driver licence and the registration details of every vehicle you wish to use. You must also declare that the vehicle is appropriately insured and agree to the Like Family transport policy. Learn more about providing transport with Like Family.

If you would like to support Members with meal preparation or cooking activities of any kind, please review and complete the Supporting Safe and Enjoyable Meals module created by the NDIS Commission. It provides information, scenarios and actions on reducing the risks associated with mealtimes.

What does the opportunity involve?

You can pick and choose the support worker activity posts that you are interested in and people you feel comfortable with.
