### Like Family Bio Hi, I’m Abby! I’m a dedicated and compassionate Social Carer with extensive experience working within the NDIS framework, primarily focusing on youth but adaptable to various age groups. My educational background includes a Bachelor of Psychological Science from Deakin University and certifications in Youth Work and Case Management. I am currently pursuing further studies to become a registered social worker, driven by a profound commitment to enhancing the well-being of individuals with complex needs and mental health challenges. My passion for this field stems from personal experiences with mental health issues, such as anxiety and depression, which have given me a deep empathy and understanding of the challenges many individuals face. I have a proven track record of supporting individuals with complex needs, including those dealing with anxiety, depression, borderline personality disorder, and other mental health conditions. I am skilled in creating safe and supportive environments, writing accurate case notes, developing behavioral support plans, and understanding relevant laws and legislation. I pride myself on being a genuine, friendly, and understanding person who doesn’t shy away from challenges. I am creative and fun, and I love to build positive relationships through positive energy. My approach is always client-centered, ensuring that the individuals I support feel acknowledged, comfortable, and safe. I handle feedback well and take everything on board as a way to improve and grow in my role. In addition to my professional skills, I enjoy a variety of hobbies that help me stay balanced and energized. I love playing video games such as Animal Crossing and Mario Kart and am always up for a game. Watching TV shows, baking and cooking traditional Italian meals and desserts for friends and family, and spending time with my chihuahua, Keely, are some of my favorite pastimes. I also enjoy going to concerts, shopping, swimming, and indulging in all things girly like getting my nails done. I have gained valuable experience during my student placement at services such as MacKillop Family Services and Salvation Army Geelong, where I provided outreach therapeutic practices and support for young people within the child protection system. This included those experiencing or at risk of homelessness, AOD, complex mental health issues, and complex traumatic experiences. These experiences have equipped me with the skills and knowledge to effectively support individuals in various challenging situations. I am committed to promoting inclusivity, respect, and positivity in all my interactions, ensuring a welcoming and empowering environment for everyone I work with. I am someone who handles various conditions and pressures with creativity and proactivity, always prioritizing safety and client-centered resolutions. My dedication to professional excellence and client-centered care is evident in my proactive and creative approach to problem-solving and my ability to maintain composure under pressure. I am committed to fostering a supportive and inclusive environment where everyone feels valued and empowered. I look forward to the opportunity to work with you and make a positive difference in your life!
