I have a wealth of life experience working with an array of different people from varying backgrounds. This insight gives me the ability to adapt to clients needs and not be overwhelmed when challenges arise. I have two sons of which one is special needs with ASD and ADHD and I have learned a lot of useful approaches to assist my son at times when he does experience a meltdown and I have learned to recognise when he is feeling overstimulated and tired and plan accordingly to assist him and avoid situations that might be upsetting to him. I have done this intuitively for almost 10 years as a mother and for the past year while attending weekly psychology / speech therapy appointments with my son. I am also aware that creative outlets are great mental stimulation for people requiring care and also very therapeutic for those coping with emotional distress, mental distress and cognitive decline. My interest in the creative arts will be a great asset to these clients. ^& ^&I could teach them how to paint a small piece of furniture or Upcycled something. We could create gifts they can give to others like little serving trays, painted and decoupaged, installing tray handles etc. Refinish garden pots, picture frames, figurines, vases - you name it! We could find items to do up at local op shops - I know all the great places to go 😃^&
