I am currently studying Occupational Therapy at the University of Sunshine Coast. One of the main reasons I wanted to become an Occupational Therapist (OT) was to create and be a part of an environment that allows all people to become the best versions of themselves, wherever they may be in life. One of the other reasons I wanted to become and OT is because I love people. I love getting to know people, getting to know how they are, where they've come from and where they want to go. What will make me a great social carer is my passion for people, my passion for making the lives of people that little better by engaging in occupation. Fun, meaningful, purposeful, life changing occupation. I love health, fitness, travelling, gardening, cooking, going to the movies, going to see musicals and plays. I love going to gigs and getting outdoors. I also love doing that with people. I want nothing more than others to experience the same joy I get out of being part of a larger community and being the one to help facilitate that^& ^&One of my hobbies is cooking. I find it really relaxing. One way in which I would share this skill is by asking questions around cooking/baking. Do they like/dislike cooking. What are their favourite meals to eat/cook. I would ask if there's a meal that they would like to have around a certain meal time and see if they wanted to make it together. We would plan what ingredients we needed, we'd make a plan on how we would get to the shops and make a plan for getting the shopping home. We would then go through the steps it would take to make the meal. Eventually, we would sit down and eat it together. I envisage that this could become a routine that we could together, branching out and trying new meals and ways of cooking. We could end up going to cooking classes, different eateries and exploring more of the food scene.^&
