As a Social carer, I'm committed to providing my patients with the best care possible. I love to make people laugh and bring smile to their face. I always practise compassion and understanding as I know how important this is to the wellbeing of my patients. I have excellent interpersonal skills and am extremely patient and resilient – these skills have helped me tremendously with the emotional aspects of the job. In addition, I am am well-versed in safety protocols and guidelines.^& ^&Being an attentive, valuable social carer means understanding your client’s boundaries and abilities. A simple yet clever way to start a rapport with the client is to ask them to play a board game. Board games such as Trivial Pursuit or Monopoly, or card games which require communication and eye contact can be great conversation starters. This activity is also a great option if I am supporting the client for the very first time because it can create a positive first impression.^&
